K-9 German Shepherd: a farewell salute
Kaiser, a German Shepherd serving in the
Massachusetts Police Department K-9 unit, began his journey to rainbow bridge
after a battle with kidney disease. ,
The emotional and heart-wrenching photo shows Kaiser being given an emotional farewell salute by fellow police officers as he passed on his final journey. Kaiser was recently diagnosed with severe kidney disease/failure ... he battled this disease with vigour and toughness, but there comes a point when the health and wellbeing of a friend becomes paramount.
Officer Lebretton wrote - RIP my boy. I could not have asked for a better partner or friend. May you rest easy and wait for me at that sacred bridge. I will be there my friend. I will be there. I will never forget you or our accomplishments. You made me a better person, a better handler, and a better cop. Till we meet again kai. I love you and will miss you daily.

Garlic v. ticks

In Spring and Autumn ticks are particularly active and a risk of getting piroplasmosis is very high. Now every dog owner can find a great variety of drops, sprays and collars to protect pets against this dangerous disease, however they cann't provide 100 % guarantie. We use drops every three weeks and inspite of all our efforts we find a tick or two rather often. This May our mali was unlucky and got piroplasmosis. The end was happy but it made me think about additional preventive measures. I found one in a "dogs" boutique during FMBB 2013 in Koper - it is a supplement on the garlic basis (a powder which is added into dogs' food). It works in a few days from the first adding. During two weeks as we give this supplement no ticks are found. It seems to add some garlic into dogs food (if the supplement is not found) will be also a good measure additional to traditional sprays or drops. Flying shepherd dogs
Freesbis or games with discs became popular in 40ies. The first freesbiers were students who played with tin plates used by Frisbie Pie Company. Later plastic discs were manufactured and called 'freesbie'. The letter 'i' in the original name was changed for "ee" to avoid judicial suits. with the pie company. Now dogs are also fascinated by plastic discs and run and jump for them for hours.
